How you'll make a difference:
As Registration Manager, you will be responsible for staffing the registration service and the technical operational issues. The service provides memorable experiences for people at key stages of their lives, registering births, deaths and marriages.
What you will be doing:
You will manage the marriage ceremony rota across approved venues and allocate interviews to members of the public at the offices in Yate and Kingswood to register births, deaths and still births.
Holding statutory functions and responsibilities as directed by the General Register Office (GRO), you will be responsible for checking the quarterly copies of births and deaths, certifying them on the registration system and sending them to the GRO.
You will be required to prepare the annual report as required under new governance and have responsibility for the safe keeping of the deposited registers for the district.
It will your responsibility to lead, motivate and develop the team and ensure that a positive culture is encouraged, the team is skilled, and performance objectives are achieved.
You will be required to attend meetings with the South Gloucestershire registration service panel, the coroner and internal meetings to represent the registration service.
Using your planning and influencing skills, you will have input to the preparation of plans and budgets for the service, taking account of external developments and priorities and meeting set time scales.
What we need from you:
We require you to have a substantial amount of professional experience working within the registration service, ideally working as a deputy superintendent registrar or superintendent registrar overseeing the full range of duties and budget responsibility.
It is key that you can demonstrate an understanding of the interlinking roles of the GRO, local authority, registration service and statutory requirements.
You will have experience of managing a team, promoting excellent customer service and a positive culture and working with and influencing partners outside the local authority.
You must have considerable experience of IT and the use of standard MS Office programmes, specifically knowledge of the registration service software RON.
