Food brings people together and in this role, you'll do more than just cook. You'll help create a warm, welcoming environment through the meals you prepare and the care you put into every plate.


As a Relief Cook, you'll step in when needed to keep things running smoothly in one of our care settings. Whether it's a hearty lunch, a home-baked cake, or something tailored to a resident's needs, you'll be making more than just meals you'll be making someone's day a little brighter.

What the job involves

Preparing and serving balanced, nourishing meals that cater to individual preferences and dietary needs Planning menus, ordering stock, and making the most of fresh ingredients Keeping the kitchen clean, safe and compliant with food hygiene standards Supporting special occasions with seasonal or celebratory dishes Encouraging residents to be involved in food prep where appropriate Working flexibly on an as-needed basis, sometimes with short notice

What we're looking for

Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment An Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate or a willingness to gain one A flair for home-style cooking and a genuine care for others Good awareness of food safety, cleanliness and health regulations

This post requires you to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks. You will also be required to be registered with SSSC and it is your professional responsibility to ensure that you meet the standards and criteria for registration.
