Job Description

We have an excellent opportunity for a Rent Officer to join our Income Management team. Delivering an efficient customer focused income collection service, you will work to achieve team KPIs and personal targets.



You'll help our customers by implementing affordable payment plans, and signposting for support services such as making applications for benefits/universal credit and budgeting. In the role you will try to prevent homelessness and keep people in their home ensuring appropriate referrals are made to in-house support services and external agencies.

Part of the role will require preparing and presenting cases in court and adhoc occasional home visits, so a driving license with access to a vehicle to travel is essential.



We are recruiting for more than one role to cover the following areas:



Area 1 - West & East Midlands



Area 2 - Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire.





The ideal candidate will live no more than 1.5 hours of travel from their allocated area.



Travel to our group offices will be required on a regular basis (minimum once a fortnight). Our Offices are located at Birmingham Business Park, Solihull and Central Park in Worcester.


What could you be doing?





The role is to work as part of a team delivering an effective and efficient customer focused income collection service. You will be responsible for collecting any income owing, including current and former tenant debt, court costs, recharge repair costs and any other sundry debts



You will liaise with customers to agree repayment plans, taking into account financial circumstances and encouraging them to look at income/expenditure. You will also work collaboratively with other Platform colleagues to achieve the best outcomes.


About You





The ideal candidate will have a background in debt recovery and possession proceedings within a housing context or experienced in a target driven environment. Experience managing accounts is also desirable.



You will be confident having challenging conversations with customers and be able to handle these while showing empathy. You will also have excellent negotiating skills with the ability to be calm, resilient and manage difficult conversations. Organisation skills and the ability to work to timeframes is also key to your success in this role.



Ideally, you'll come from a housing background, either from another housing association or a Local Authority.
