Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised project manager for a new \xc2\xa34.5m Wellcome Mental Health Award project, AMBER, to identify the causal determinants of antidepressant response. Our programme of genetic, informatic and cellular work will give insights into the \'active ingredients\' of anti-depressants and infer how these drugs can better be used to treat depression. The role will manage joint research and collaborations with partners at the Universities of Edinburgh and Queensland, with people with lived experience of depression and international stakeholders such as the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium. You will take responsibility for delivering project management, with oversight of day-to-day administration, meeting organization, budgets and administrative processes. You will also support access to clinical and research studies, through data transfer agreements, interacting with King\'s teams as necessary. You will develop and support a social media strategy for AMBER.

This role will suit an experienced research administrator looking to take on a new challenge, or a postdoctoral researcher, seeking to move into research management. This is a part-time post at 50% full time equivalent, with flexibility in working hours and hybrid working pattern.

Contract type

This post will be offered on an a fixed-term contract for 3 years.

This is 50% FTE post.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the AMBER project with project management activities of planned research activities, ensuring all support is in place.
  • Work with King\'s administrative systems, including HR, finance, and purchasing.
  • Take responsibility for administrative processes for the King\'s AMBER team, including budgets, recruitment and monitoring research progress.
  • Provide support for scientific travel, manuscript submission, data access and funder reports.
  • Develop a social media strategy and provide social media co-ordination for the project, including Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Organise project meetings for the local team, principal investigators, the full consortium and the Scientific Advisory Board.
  • Act as secretary to relevant meetings, including agenda planning and setting, attendance at and minuting meetings and managing follow up activity.
  • Interact with AMBER\'s Lived Experience Advisory Panel (LEAP), which is a key part of the research programme.
  • Undertake governance activities for data access and storage, including development of Data Management Plans and Data Protection Impact Assessment.
  • Support open science activities in data sharing, deposit of analysis scripts on github, and open access publishing.
  • Problem-solve for the team, as necessary, to ensure planned research can progress smoothly.
