About the role

Join our team at the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI) and be at the forefront of research on inherited cardiomyopathies as a research technician.


What you would be doing

We have an opportunity to join the Cardiovascular Genetics and Genomics team at Imperial College London. Our group is based across Royal Brompton and Hammersmith Hospitals, part of the National Heart and Lung institute, MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences and Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. Our research is focused on the impact of genetic variants on inherited cardiac conditions and finding ways to use this information to ultimately improve patient-care.


The Research Technician post will be primarily based at Royal Brompton Campus, supporting laboratory work, participant-facing research activity, and assist with study administration



The key responsibilities will be sample management, supporting online participant recruitment through thehearthive.org or other platforms and in-person recruitment across hospital study sites, gathering clinical outcome data from participants directly or via records, DNA extraction and other laboratory support roles.



This role is an opportunity to get involved with different aspects of clinical research, develop molecular biology skills and be part of a team that's committed to improving healthcare for people with cardiomyopathy and other cardiac conditions. The post

Communicate well, someone who can approach and talk to patients sensitively and supportively. Collect accurate research data, can identify suitable patients and process and track biological samples Participate in research meetings and stay updated with advancements in cardiovascular genetics Ensure adherence to ethical guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality.
