Sellick Partnership are supporting a local authority to recruit for a resettlement assistant to provide support with accommodation referrals within the temporary accommodation teams.

The responsibilities of the resettlement assistant:

  • To support in making homelessness the unacceptable outcome no matter how challenging the circumstances
  • To support the Early Help / Prevention Officers in arranging and facilitating meetings to agree and progress personalised housing plans, including partners and the applicant and, as directed by the officer, monitor and update these to ensure that they are progressing effectively.
  • To work with partners to ensure the best outcome for the applicant with a focus on support and preventing and relieving homelessness.
  • To support the Early Help / Prevention Officers in the administrative tasks related to the applicant\'s approach to the service by collating information, ensuring appropriate applications are completed and assessed promptly.
  • To liaise with customers to ensure that information is provided and uploaded to the system to enable assessments to be made under Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 including the completion of actions under the personalised housing plan.
  • To ensure that homelessness cases are progressed through the case management system in line with service standards, ensuring accurate reporting.
  • To assess housing register applications in accordance with the Allocations Policy.
  • To facilitate extra bedroom requests and medical assessment forms.
  • To review housing register applications where requested.
  • To refer customer is to partners as requested by the Early Help and Prevention Officer.
  • To drive the council\'s reduction of temporary accommodation expenditure by ensuring that all other avenues are explored, and customers are diverted away from its use.
  • To support with the administration of prevention and relief activities including Discretionary Housing Payment and Rent Deposit Scheme and Homelessness Prevention funds.
Essential requirements the resettlement assistant will have:
  • Previous experience within a similar role
  • An understanding of homelessness
