The Role
We are seeking Residential Care Workers to join a growing network of children's homes in Hampshire. The homes are designed to feel like family homes -- not institutions -- and staff share mealtimes with the children to build trust, stability, and positive routines.
You will support children and young people aged 8-18 who have experienced trauma and placement breakdowns. Consistency is essential, which is why this is not a casual agency role: you'll begin through us during onboarding, with the clear plan to transition into a permanent role with the provider.
Duties & Responsibilities
Build safe, trusting relationships with children who have experienced trauma
Support with daily routines (mealtimes, activities, household responsibilities)
Work rota shifts,2 including sleep-ins and weekends
Ensure safeguarding and care plans are consistently followed
Contribute to a stable, family-style environment
What We're Looking For
Experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential)
Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification (preferred; training support available)
Commitment to 29+ hours per week no very part-time contracts
Flexibility to work sleep-ins and rota shifts (including weekends)
Resilience, emotional intelligence, and the ability to build stable relationships
Age 21+ preferred; exceptional 18-19 year olds considered
Pay & Benefits
Hourly rate: 12.30 - 12.50 (depending on experience)
Annual salary range: 25,584 - 33,150 (based on 40-51 hours per week)
Sleep-ins:
+ 45 when a waking night worker is present
+ 66.75 when no waking night worker is present Waking hours: paid at standard hourly rate
Meals provided on shift (staff eat with the children)
Training support to achieve Level 3 Residential Childcare if not already held
Travel & Accommodation Support
Roles available within a 90-minute travel radius of Hampshire homes
Transport and accommodation are provided where required to make roles viable
Meals provided on shift (with children); off-shift meals self-catered
