An exciting opportunity has arisen for a residential care worker to work within the Children's Residential sector. In all our residential settings, we work with to create a home environment that exceeds the needs of children and young people. We are looking for an engaging and positive Residential Care Worker/Support Worker to join our Peterborough & Cambridge service where we support children and young people aged between 8 - 18 years. Service users may have a complex needs challenging behaviour, learning disabilities and other emotional or social needs.
The hours do vary and will be discussed at interview. Due to the personal choice of the people, we support, we are looking to recruit someone who has a full driving licence.
This is a fast-paced role, you must be flexible in the hours due to the support required. You will work on a rota basis throughout the week, weekends, bank holidays with sleep ins (Sleep ins are complaint to the role) as well. We plan our rotas in advance with the needs of the service.
We are recruiting full time, part time permanent across Peterborough & Cambridge.
No two days are ever the same, sometimes they may be challenging but always positive.
What you will need to succeed
Willing to complete/or has a Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care Children and Young People or equivalent.
You must have a full clean UK driving licence.
Previous experience of working with Children & Young People is desirable.
What does a Residential Care Worker/Support Worker do?
Supporting children and young people on focusing on their education, behaviour, and physical and mental well-being to achieve a positive outcome.
You must be willing to go above and beyond for the children and young people, ensuring that they have experience of a childhood that they can reflect upon and carry with them into adulthood.
Supporting young people to attend appointments, liaise with doctors, social workers on behalf of the young people trying to help them back into the community, helping with schoolwork and assisting with any other outdoor activities.
Enabling young people to express their characters, feel safe and enrich their lives through positive behaviours and planned activities.
To react in emergency situations quickly and efficiently and to ensure the wellbeing of the young children/people and others.
You will be confident in complying with all regulatory requirements, i.e., Health and Safety, COSHH, RIDDOR and Accident Reporting.
You will be confident with support plans, risk assessments and able to complete a thorough handover to the rest of the team and management regarding the individual concerned in a positive, structured, and professional manner.
