Holly Lodge Children's Home is an Ofsted registered mixed gender children's home offering medium to long-term placements for five young people aged between 10-18 years. We recognise that caring for children who have experienced extreme trauma in their young lives is a challenging and complex task. The basis of our approach is the creation of a secure base for each child which we achieve through our relational model of care and dedicated individual key workers.
We also recognise the importance of providing a warm, safe and emotionally containing home for our young people and investing in the environment as a family would.
Routines, structure and boundaries are there to support and nurture the unmet needs of the children.
As a Children's Service, with an Independent School and a Children's Home, our work is person-centred, led and informed.
We are currently looking to recruit full-time Day and Waking Night Support Workers for our home in South Norwood. Your role will be to support the children and young people in their day-to-day living and welfare. This is a challenging but also hugely rewarding role. The ideal candidate MUST have at least 1-year relevant experience with supporting children and young people and completed (or at least be in the process of completing) Level 3 Residential Child Care or equivalent qualification.
We welcome candidates who have a specific interest or talent in sports, drama, arts and crafts, digital media, cooking and baking and other indoor activities to enhance the experiences of our children.
Responsibilities:
Focus on obtaining the best outcomes for each child and young person placed within the home
Assist in the smooth running of the home, promoting a safe and caring environment
Work within the relevant legislation and effectively implement this within the home
Work to ensure that the young person's care plan is met
Be a role model - help and guide the children and young people placed
Professional conduct of the highest standards
Report writing, logging notes and key working records
Prepare individual risk assessments and plan key working sessions
Requirements:
Have a proven track record of working with children and young people, preferably within a children's residential setting
Be willing to develop your skills further within the residential care arena
Undertake mandatory and statutory training (including online training)
Have excellent communication, organisation and report-writing skills
Level 3 Residential Child Care or equivalent qualification should be completed or in progress.
Availability/Flexibility for early and late shifts as well as night cover
Compliance - DBS and safeguarding checks will be carried out.
