Job Description

We are seeking a passionate, skilled, and motivated Children's Home Manager to join our Empower Family Group. This is a new opportunity as we are growing and have obtained our first home in Devon.



The successful candidate will demonstrate strong administrative and organisational skills, high levels of professionalism, and a genuine commitment to delivering the very best outcomes for children and young people. You will play a key role in leading shifts, supporting and developing staff, and promoting a nurturing, therapeutic environment where young people feel safe, valued, and able to flourish.

The role



To be responsible for the overall management of the children's home in line with Ofsted's regulations; delivering the home's statement of purpose and managing and supporting the team to achieve the same.



To provide high quality person-centred care services that is personalised and supports the needs of the children and young people, to be an advocate for their well-being and to provide strong, motivational leadership to staff.



You will already have excellent standards of person-centred care and will develop your skillset with the aim of improving innovation and creative care in your home and teams. You will strive to ensure that the young people feel loved, nurtured, and aspire to reach their potential.

Main duties and responsibilities

Embody and share the company ethos and values at all times in your practice. To fully understand, review and impliment the homes Statement of Purpose. To ensure suitable staff rosters are in place to meet the needs of the children living within the home. To provide leadership for the home and its staff that is in line with models of empowerment. To take responsibility for leading the shift and activties of the home and young people To take part in an on-call rota, providing support to staff outside of office hours, attending if nessesary. To ensure all young people are safe, protected from any risks and their well-being is promoted at all times. To listen to the people you support and learn about their communication needs; communicating with thme in ways that they understand To provide support in a way that increases each individual's independence and helps them to achieve their goals. To support and assist service users in the way they choose and need to complete personal care and household tasks. Examples are: shopping, meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, and personal care tasks such as bathing, washing hair, cutting fingernails, using the toilet. To support the service users in an appropriate professional manner in all aspects of their lives, be this personally, emotionally, physically, socially, or vocationally. To encourage service users to make choices and decisions for themselves, and support them to do new things in a way that keeps them safe, but does not allow concerns about safety to stop them doing the things they want to do. To work alone if required by an individual's support plan. To be flexible in your approach and work for the benefit of the service users. To work sleep shifts or waking nights if required to do so to cover colleagues and any shortfalls in the rota.

Requirements




Full driving licence


Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) or a qualification which the registered person considers to be equivalent


2 years' recent experience of working with children and young people with learning disabilities or challenging behaviour in a children's home setting.

Experience of being a Children's Residential Support Worker or senior post holder seeking career advancement
