Job Summary


We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to assist children and young people in a caring environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the development and wellbeing of children, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact while developing valuable skills in childcare and support services.

Care & Support



Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people. Provide day-to-day care, emotional support, and practical assistance in line with individual care plans. Support children with daily routines including education, health, appointments, leisure activities, and personal care where required. Promote independence, life skills, and positive decision-making.

Safeguarding & Behaviour Support



Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people. Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns in line with company policy and statutory guidance. Support children to manage emotions and behaviour using positive behaviour support approaches. Respond appropriately to challenging behaviour, using de-escalation techniques and agreed strategies.

Health, Safety & Wellbeing



Ensure the home provides a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. Administer medication in line with training and policy. Support children's physical, emotional, cultural, and social wellbeing.

Record Keeping & Reporting



Maintain accurate and timely records including daily logs, incident reports, and care documentation. Contribute to care reviews, key worker reports, and meetings as required. Communicate effectively with colleagues, managers, professionals, and families.

Teamwork & Professional Development



Work collaboratively as part of a residential team. Participate in supervision, appraisals, and training. Uphold the values, policies, and procedures of the organisation at all times.

Person Specification



Essential



A genuine passion for working with children and young people. Understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively. Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and sleep-ins. Basic IT skills and ability to complete written records. Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Desirable



Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards). Previous experience working with children or young people in a care or support setting. Knowledge of trauma-informed care and/or children's residential regulations. Full UK driving licence.
