Safe Haven Care is a small residential home for children in Raglan. We are professional, agile, supportive, and our goal is to deliver high quality care and support to vulnerable children and young people with complex needs.

About the Service



The home is a 4 bedded residential service which provides a long-term placement for children and young people aged 7-18 with complex needs.

As a Residential Support Worker, you'll join the friendly team to provide support to children and young people within the home and access the local community.

You'll be a key role model to the people we support, whilst helping our young people to develop emotionally, socially, behaviourally and independently. Your role will also require you to attend training, team meetings and take part in supervisions during the day.

About the role



As our Residential support Worker, you will be responsible for creating a safe and supportive environment for children and young people to thrive. Your role will encompass supervising the smooth running of shifts, supervising children and young people on a minimum 1:1 basis, demonstrating leadership, and confidently maintaining the service in the absence of the Team Leader or Manager.

You will ensure that both staff and the children or young people's wellbeing is prioritised. You will deliver and guide your team to offer person centred care, guidance and advocacy. It is crucial that both children and staff feel secure and supported whilst achieving their maximum capabilities.

Location:

Raglan, Monmouthshire

Contract / Hours:

Permanent - 37.5 hours per week. Shift pattern is flexible from 0800- 0830 and also 1400hrs to 2000hrs

Responsibilities



- Provide care planning management, including assessing, reviewing and managing risk.

- Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including written reports.

- Attendance at professional meetings including reviews etc.

- Supporting young people to take part in fun activities, learn new skills, education and work towards independence within the community.

- Supporting children and young people with personal care, communication, administration of medication as and when required.

- Supporting the Manager, Deputy Manager, Team Leader and other Residential Support Workers in the safe and efficient running of the home.

What are we looking for from you:



Experience of working within Children's Residential Homes and developing positive relationships through trust. Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with Children and Young People and their families. Adopt a solution focused approach to address problems, both individually and in a team setting. Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role. Experience of working with children with complex needs. Sound knowledge and understanding of safeguarding.
