Stoke ST6

14.00 per hour - Contracted hours 165 hours per month, with sleep rates paid GBP 60 per night

Job Overview


As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing assistance and care to individuals, particularly children, ensuring their well-being and development. You will be responsible for implementing care plans, fostering a supportive environment, and promoting independence. This position requires a compassionate individual with strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with families and other professionals.

Responsibilities



Assist children with daily activities, including personal care and social integration. Implement and monitor individual care plans tailored to each child's needs. Maintain accurate records of progress and any changes in behaviour or health. Communicate effectively with children, families, and other support staff to ensure comprehensive care. Provide transportation as needed, ensuring safe driving practices at all times. Engage children in educational and recreational activities that promote their development. Support families by providing guidance and resources related to childcare and development.

Skills



Awareness of the needs of children & young people Knowledge of the Children Act Knowledge of the Quality Standards Understanding the purpose and function of residential care Understanding of Equal Opportunities Understanding of the impact of abuse, neglect and trauma on children and young people Knowledge of IT, including use of E-mail, the internet and keeping electronic records. Good interpersonal/social skills Dependable, organised, and structured Energetic, enthusiastic, and self-motivated Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to work well under pressure and to strict deadlines Ability to produce written reports and maintain clear, concise, complete, and correct records Understand the causes of, and be able to manage challenging behaviour and conflict Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team Ability to demonstrate and promote anti-discriminatory practice Ability to communicate with and form positive relationships with children and young people Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information Commitment to Staff Development Knowledge of quality assurance systems within the workplace IT literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook Professional Approach

Ability to adapt to 24-hour rota's which will include, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleeping in.
