We are excited to be launching a brand-new, 2-bed residential children's home in Coventry, specialising in supporting young people aged 7-16 years of age with Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and mild Learning Disabilities(LD). Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where young people can thrive and achieve positive outcomes.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate
Responsible Individual (RI)
to provide strategic oversight and guidance, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance as we guide the home through the Ofsted registration process and beyond.
The Role and Your Impact
This is a critical senior leadership opportunity to influence practice, drive improvement, and mentor the Registered Manager, ensuring every young person receives high-quality, safe, and nurturing care.
Key Responsibilities:
Registration and Compliance:
Act as the primary point of contact for Ofsted, leading the home successfully through the registration, "fit person" interview, and pre-registration inspection processes.
Strategic Oversight:
Ensure full compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the associated Quality Standards.
Leadership and Mentorship:
Supervise, support, challenge, and hold the Registered Manager to account, fostering their professional development and strengthening service performance.
Quality Assurance:
Implement robust quality assurance processes, including conducting regular monitoring visits and independent audits, and ensuring swift action is taken on any improvement plans.
Safeguarding:
Lead on safeguarding, embedding a culture of safety, transparency, and accountability across all services, and monitoring all incidents and risks effectively.
Stakeholder Relationships:
Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, commissioning teams, and external agencies, representing the home during inspections and partnership working.
About You
You will be a confident, compassionate, and forward-thinking leader who brings a wealth of experience in the children's residential care sector.
Essential Requirements:
Experience:
Substantial leadership experience in children's residential care, ideally in a former Registered Manager or multi-site leadership role.
Qualifications:
A minimum of an NVQ/QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
Knowledge:
An in-depth knowledge and applied understanding of children's homes regulations, legislation, and Ofsted inspection frameworks (SCCIF).
Skills:
Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, with proven capability in governance, financial awareness, and staff management.
DBS Check:
Willingness to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service is essential.
Driving Licence:
A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to the home on a regular basis are required.
