Job Description

The Responsible Person (RP) oversees quality systems, GMP compliance, and batch certification, playing a critical role in maintaining patient safety and product integrity in the pharmacy's operations. The RP will play a crucial part of the next stage of our growth as we apply for our wholesale and import licenses and act as Responsible Person (RP) across all parts of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Initially this role will require the RP to work with other stakeholders within the organisation and externally to obtain all the relevant licenses in order to import, store, and wholesale medicinal cannabis. They will also be involved in ensuring the physical space secured for the relevant licenses meets standards and/ or oversee any work required in order for it to meet specification.


This individual will also be responsible for growing, supporting and training the team which they will help build once in post over the next 12 months.

Supplier qualification and auditing

+ Ensure all suppliers are GMP compliant through thorough qualification and regular auditing

Regulatory Compliance

+ Ensure operations are fully compliant with local medical cannabis laws (e.g., Misuse of Drugs Regulations, Controlled Drugs regulations).
+ Serve as the liaison with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.

Quality Assurance

+ Lead and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) including CAPAs, deviations, change controls, complaints, and risk assessments.
+ Perform audits of suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure compliance.

Standard Operating Procedures

+ Oversee the creation, approval, and training of SOPs related to production, storage, handling, and dispensing of cannabis products.

Pharmacovigilance

+ Monitor and report adverse events related to medical cannabis usage and ensure appropriate follow-up and documentation.

Team Collaboration

Work closely with pharmacists, cultivation/manufacturing teams, and logistics to ensure quality and continuity is maintained across the supply chain.


+ Provide oversight and training to junior staff and other departments on quality and compliance topics.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Legally recognised Responsible Person status under applicable national regulations. Degree in pharmacy, chemistry, biology, or a related scientific discipline. Extensive knowledge of GMP regulations, especially as applied to cannabis-based products for medicinal use or unlicensed medicines. Previous experience working in a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or medical cannabis environment. Strong understanding of quality systems, regulatory submissions, and pharmaceutical product release. Excellent attention to detail, documentation skills, and regulatory awareness. Ability to manage complex projects and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Preferred Experience:

Previous experience in the medical cannabis industry. Familiarity with controlled drug handling and record-keeping. Experience interacting with regulatory agencies (e.g., HPRA, MHRA, EMA). Experience in working with home office licenses.

Compensation Range: 65K - 80K
