Retail Accounts Clerk

-- one on a

6-month fixed-term contract

and the other on a

permanent basis

The Retail Accounts Clerk is expected to maintain consistent checking regimes according to Rail Delivery Group guidelines in order to ensure errors are dealt with efficiently and in the correct manner. In this role you would be based at Leicester station but may be required to travel out to other locations across our networks to complete audit work.



The Retails Accounts Clerk will:-

Be responsible for maintaining the accounts of all Ticket Offices, Travel Centres and On Train Retail operated by East Midlands Railway to the highest standard. This includes TVM and Car Park revenue. Maintain an efficient continuous audit process for all Travel Centres, Ticket Offices and On Train Retail operated by East Midlands Railway. Ensure that all EMR policies including refunds, banking of cash, emptying of TVMs and Car Parks, Non-Issue compliance and PCIDSS regulations are adhered to. Highlight any irregularities and instances of fraud to the Retail Compliance Manager. Investigate such items and effectively address any weakness discovered if required. Visit Ticket Offices and Travel Centres regularly to carry out Station Audits to ensure that procedures are being followed correctly at all locations. Report this back to the Retail Compliance Manger and Customer Experience teams across our locations. To be great in this role you will have a good knowledge of Retail Accounting Systems, ideally in the context of the Railway Industry and have a working knowledge of basic financial accounting.


It would be excellent if you had experience with the use of Microsoft Office packages, in particular Word and Excel and also more specific systems such as Fujitsu STAR, S&B TVMs and Worldline Envoy.



Coupled with all this technical knowledge we also need you to have strong communications skills, be a well organised individual and have an ability to work under your own initiative. You will need to have a forensic like eye for detail when carrying out investigations by extracting information useful to identify the facts and be an objective, diligent individual with an investigative flair.
