Job brief




We are looking for a Retail Shop Assistant with the ability to work in our Megastore in Gateshead. You will bring experience, energy and enthusiasm to the role supporting the management team with the day-to-day retail activities of the shop. As part of a dynamic team, you will help drive sales, and support shop operations. Retail experience, excellent customer service, and strong organisational skills are all essential requirements for this role.


- Hours- minimum of 12 hrs up to 37.5 hrs per week (hours are negotiable and can be discussed at interview). Please state in your cover letter how many you wish to apply for.


- Salary- 23,000 per annum (or pro rata if part time hours)

Key Tasks




Providing exceptional customer service, assisting with stock management and merchandising and contributing to a positive, welcoming atmosphere. In addition:

Process donations so that they meet required standards and are ready for sale. Always maintain high volumes of stock on the shop floor through regular replenishment. Always achieve maximum sales. Ensure that the high standard of service to customers is always maintained. Operate the tills to process customer purchases. Ensure that all Daisy Chains till procedures are adhered to and that cash is kept secure. Assist any promotion in the shop as directed by the Management Team Maintain a high standard of display and merchandising on the shop floor. Achieve and maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation, and cleanliness throughout the store. Adhere to the Gift Aid procedure when processing Gift Aided stock. Price stock at a consistent level according to our pricing structure The role will demand moving, sometimes high volumes, of stock daily and managing stock levels. Assist in the training of volunteers as required. Complete all administrative paperwork such as sales sheets, gift aid sheets and stock control sheets correctly and promptly. Key holder responsibility to lock and close the store as part of a weekly rota. With appropriate training, support store close down procedures including cashing up of till points.

Comply with the Charities Health and Safety policy in all employment practices. Maintain the integrity of the Daisy Chain brand in all internal and external communications. Maintain a proactive approach to your role and responsibilities along with a commitment to contribute and maintain the positive working ethos within the Charity. Maintain working knowledge of the policies and regulations governing the Charity. Assure attendance at staff meetings. Undertake any training and development deemed necessary for the pursuance of the post. Work in a way that contributes to the continuous improvement of the Charitys services and embraces the organisations quality initiatives.
