This is a newly created role to play a key part in ensuring effective risk management and controls across the group reporting to the Risk & Controls Manager. This will include meeting existing and any new requirements arising from UK SOX and the Group coming into the HMRC SAO regime.

This role offers a great opportunity to make a difference across the whole organisation as the Group expands furtherdue to acquisition. It will provide the candidate the opportunity to develop knowledge and experience of specific business areas and provide exposure to all levels of management.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF ROLE:

  • Reporting into the Risk & Controls Manager, you will take the lead on ensuring effective risk management and controls across the subsidiaries located in our Northern locations.
  • Support effective roll out of the entity wide integrated risk and controls framework across the organisation including appropriate tools across the Group, including recently purchased Appreciate plc
  • Maintain and review risk & controls registers across the business including Executive and functional risk registers
  • Support the business in identifying and documenting new risks and changes in existing risks and controls through regular liaison across the business
  • Support implementation new GRC tool and help maintain its effective operation and support across the business
  • Provide ongoing risk training and support as required across the business
  • Build relationships across the business including liaison and co-ordination with all key stakeholders including senior management, specialist risk & regulatory teams, internal audit and other risk champions
  • Support the Risk & Controls Manager with presentations and reporting to the Audit Committee and the various monthly management committees
  • Support implementation of an effective process & controls framework that meet requirements of the SAO regime
  • Support development of an enhanced financial controls framework that meets future UK SOX requirements including documenting key controls, testing and updating as required and ensuring effective remediation of any gaps identified.
  • Perform ad-hoc investigations or deep dives on risks and controls, in particular where controls have not performed adequately and support the business in effective remediation and improvements required.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of emerging risks through research and liaison across the business including developments in new regulations such as UK SOX, Data Protection and FCA requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Accounting, Internal Audit or Risk management qualifications
  • Experience with risk management frameworks
  • Experience reviewing processes and identifying control weaknesses with ability to assess risks and internal controls
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Experience in a regulated business and exposure to compliance is helpful
