About Us:
We are a passionate, vegan-friendly animal rescue charity dedicated to supporting and rehoming animals in need. Our network of charity shops plays a vital role in raising funds to continue our rescue and advocacy work. We are looking for a dedicated and adaptable Roaming Relief Manager to provide essential support across our retail locations.
Job Purpose:
As a Roaming Relief Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our charity shops by providing cover and support for Shop Managers during periods of absence. You will uphold our ethical values, maximize sales, and ensure excellent customer service while creating a welcoming and inclusive shopping experience.
Due to the roaming nature of this role, the ability to work away from home will be required on occasion.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide management cover across multiple charity shop locations as required.
Support and supervise staff and volunteers, ensuring they are motivated and trained effectively.
Maintain high standards of customer service and ensure a friendly, ethical, and engaging shopping environment.
Implement and uphold the charity's vegan values, ensuring products and messaging align with our mission.
Oversee stock management, including sorting donations, merchandising, and pricing to maximize revenue.
Ensure all financial procedures are followed, including cash handling and banking.
Maintain a clean, safe, and legally compliant working environment.
Assist in local marketing and community engagement to promote the shop and charity's work.
Report to the Retail Area Manager and communicate shop performance, challenges, and achievements.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Retail management experience, preferably within a charity or ethical retail setting.
Passion for animal welfare and commitment to a vegan lifestyle or strong understanding of vegan principles.
Ability to travel between multiple shop locations as required.
Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and motivating a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Organised, proactive, and able to work independently.
Basic IT skills for retail reporting and administration tasks.
Desirable:
Experience working with volunteers in a retail environment.
Knowledge of charity retail operations and Gift Aid procedures.
Visual merchandising skills and an eye for shop presentation.
