Lead and support a team of practitioners in the daily running of our Toddler Room.
Work collaboratively with senior leadership, contributing to the effective management of the nursery.
Foster a reflective practice culture within the team, encouraging continuous improvement.
Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and stimulating "learning through play" environment in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
Coordinate the planning, delivery, and documentation of high-quality learning experiences, ensuring the environment reflects both the EYFS framework and the individual interests of children.
Ensure nursery policies and procedures are implemented consistently to meet the needs of every child.
Maintain a high standard of health and safety, safeguarding, and wellbeing practices at all times.
Act as a positive role model for best practice in all aspects of early years care and education.
Build strong partnerships with parents and carers through daily interactions and by using digital learning journals such as Tapestry.
Provide day-to-day support and mentorship to team members, including float staff and students on placement.
Monitor staff performance in your room, identifying support or training needs and providing guidance as appropriate.
Encourage and value team input, creating an inclusive and collaborative working environment.
Attend staff meetings and participate fully in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Support the implementation of individual behaviour plans in collaboration with the SENDCo, where needed.
Ensure your team are confident in managing challenging behaviours using appropriate strategies.
Keep your own training and knowledge up to date, particularly in safeguarding, first aid, and relevant statutory requirements.
Undertake any other relevant duties as reasonably requested by the Nursery Management Team.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
A minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare.
Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding, and Food Hygiene certifications (training can be provided).
Strong working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and child development.
At least 2 years of experience in an early years childcare setting.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
Familiarity with Ofsted standards and expectations.
Clear understanding of the statutory welfare requirements.
