Job summary



We are seeking to appoint a newly qualified, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking GP looking for an exciting and supportive role to launch their career. This role is tailored for newly qualified GPs (CCT must be within 2 years of qualification and without holding a substantive post) on a fixed-term salaried contract.

We are looking for 3 sessions per week; Monday, Thursdays and Friday, and a possibility of a further session on a Tuesday evening. Fixed term contact until the end of March 2026.

About the Practice



An excellent opportunity has arisen to work across two Rural Alliance Surgeries; Kelsall Medical Centre and Dr Kent and Partners, Tarporley Health Centre.

Kelsall Medical Centre is a friendly, patient focussed and well-respected GMS Practice located 9 miles from Chester.

We offer:

Modern, purpose-built Health Centre with a Wellbeing Hub/Community Cafe attached to the site Forward thinking multi-disciplinary team providing care to just under 6,000 patients Medical Student Training Practice High QOF Achievement CQC rating - Good Member of the Rural Alliance PCN working in collaboration with five other neighbouring practices Our current Clinical Team consists of two partner GPs, three salaried GPs, one ANP, and a HCA. We also employ a Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician and our patients have access to a Specialist Dementia Nurse and First Contact Physiotherapist
Dr Kent and Partners is a dispensing practice with 8,200 patients, we strive to be a family practice, working as a team, with well trained and motivated staff, to achieve a high standard of care for all our patients.

Dr Kent and Partners is a located in rural Cheshire within the Village of Tarporley, within a 30-minute commute of Chester and Nantwich, and offering excellent schools and amenities.

We dispense our patients and provide a repeat prescription delivery service. This traditional, yet pro-active and professional approach to the provision of primary care service, has helped us to provide additional services for our patients. Surgery core hours are 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, and we offer enhanced access on Tuesday Mornings from 7am and Thursday evenings until 8pm
Both practices use EMIS Web, Docman 10, AccuRX, active workflow management and Microsoft Office programmes

Main duties of the role



The post holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing/authorising repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion.

The post holder will deal with a wide range of health needs, maintaining our quality standards. They will work with the Partners and Staff to continue to develop the practice in response to the ever-changing face of primary care, maintaining high standards and traditional practice.

Job responsibilities



The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP:



Provide patient-centred, evidence-based care that addresses the medical needs of the local patient population. This includes diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide variety of acute and chronic medical conditions, working to improve overall health outcomes. Ensure that all medical services provided align with the standards and obligations set out in the primary care contract. This includes meeting targets related to patient care, access, and service quality, in compliance with NHS guidelines. Implement safe, effective, and cost-efficient prescribing practices, ensuring that medication choices follow both local formularies and national prescribing guidelines Ensure all administrative tasks, including managing referrals to secondary care, processing repeat prescription requests, reviewing test results, and handling patient queries, are completed promptly and accurately to support effective patient care. Ensure that all patient consultations, treatments, and decisions are accurately recorded in patient notes in a timely manner, following best practices and adhering to legal and policy requirements. This is essential for continuity of care and medico-legal purposes. Contribute to the practice team by taking on a fair and equitable share of clinical and administrative duties. This ensures smooth operations and a balanced workload across the practice. Collaborate with other health and social care providers to ensure integrated services and maintain accurate patient records.

Qualifications



Essential:



Newly qualified GP (within Two years and not having had a substantive post) with full GMC registration and license to practice Experience using a primary care IT system such as EMIS, Docman and Accurx Experience of QOF Experience of dealing with a range of clinical conditions General understanding of GMS contract Primary medical qualification e.g. MRCGP/nMRCGP Driving Licence GMC Registration NHS Performers List status

Ability to work within own scope of practice and understanding when to refer to GPs Ability to work independently, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team Understanding of evidence-based practice Ability to effectively triage, assess and diagnose Ability to request and review pathology tests and other relevant investigations and advise patients accordingly Ability to assess and manage patient risk effectively and safely.
