The Role
We are seeking a dynamic, customer-focused Sales Consultant to join our successful showroom team in Wadebridge. This is a sales-driven role where you'll guide customers through our extensive product range, from efficient wood burners for local homes to high-end designer fireplaces for renovations, new builds, and prestigious developments. You'll work across all price points, ensuring every customer receives the same exceptional service and finds the perfect solution for their needs.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Excellence:
Deliver outstanding customer service to all visitors and callers, regardless of budget or project scale
Build rapport quickly and understand each customer's specific heating and design requirements
Confidently guide customers towards products that suit their home and budget without being pushy
Envisage which fires and fireplaces will work best in each unique space
Identify opportunities to promote our professional design service where applicable
Convert enquiries into sales by matching customers with solutions that meet their needs and aspirations
Capture all customer details accurately and process information efficiently
Organise site visits for surveyors in a timely manner where required
Meet and exceed sales targets and KPIs consistently
Product Knowledge & Outdoor Living:
Develop comprehensive knowledge of our fireplace range, from efficient wood burners to luxury designer installations
Become an enthusiastic expert on our extensive outdoor living brand, including Big Green Egg and fully furnished outdoor kitchen solutions
Drive sales growth and strategic direction for our outdoor living division
Stay current with product developments and market trends through self-directed learning
Complete any necessary homework to ensure you can confidently advise customers from day one
Collaboration & Business Development:
Work seamlessly with our Design team, providing detailed customer briefs and project information
Prepare accurate costings and quotations for customers
Use tools such as SketchUp to support customer visualisation (desirable but not essential)
Bring fresh sales ideas and innovative techniques to the team
Contribute proactively to showroom presentation and seasonal displays
Maintain comprehensive product knowledge across our full range
Data Management & Administration:
Demonstrate full proficiency on CRM systems (we use Simpro on Mac desktops)
Complete all relevant paperwork accurately and promptly with meticulous attention to detail
Adapt quickly to new systems as business requirements evolve
Ensure all customer records and documentation are properly maintained
Essential Requirements:
Proven sales experience with demonstrable track record
(CV must include sales history)
Exceptional customer service skills with ability to engage customers at all budget levels
Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, both face-to-face and over the telephone
Confident, consultative sales approach without being aggressive or pushy
Quick learner with enthusiasm to gain product knowledge rapidly
Self-motivated with proactive approach to achieving sales targets
Full proficiency on at least one CRM system
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team
Confident IT skills (experience with SketchUp or similar design tools advantageous)
Full UK driving licence
Professional demeanor with genuine enthusiasm for premium home and garden products

Contract Details:
This is a full-time role, offered as a 12-month maternity cover position, with the potential for permanent employment for the right candidate to support our continued business expansion. Salary circa 30,000, negotiable depending on experience and performance.
