The Salesforce Technical Lead is a key member of our applications and development team at PPL PRS. Working alongside a team of Salesforce Administrators, Developers & Quality Analysts, this role is for a proactive individual with a deep understanding of the Salesforce platform, who can understand both our current setup and our business objectives, in order to quickly identify areas of improvement and provide positive user experience.


The Technical Lead should be comfortable with all areas of Core Salesforce configuration and with some knowledge of Salesforce APEX development. Utilising your technical and soft skills, you will have the opportunity to lead & train junior Salesforce specialists across both Admin & Dev disciplines and offer them mentorship based on your experience in the Salesforce Eco-System which will also progress your leadership skills.


Develop Specifications to provide and maintain a system that meets the customer needs whilst adhering to best practices and being an advocate of best practice across the business.


Assist the support teams by providing technical insight and design guidance in or to improve the quality, reliability and performance of the system.


Develop the necessary technical and business process skills to support the team and the process.

Role Purpose




This is a varied business facing role, with the following responsibilities:

Ensure that the business maximises investment made in Salesforce products and adopt relevant updates in a timely manner Ensure availability of the platform providing support to resolve application issues. Create and maintain application changes within the system Create and implement code deployments following the defined DevOps process in line with company standards, working alongside the Solutions Architect. Review code to resolve conflicts and remove technical debt. Develop, implement and maintain Salesforce customisations, applications, extensions and integrations. Develop and maintain integrations between Salesforce and other 3rd party applications Develop intuitive User experiences and Interfaces by using the appropriate technologies (VisualForce and Javascript) and working with the team to gain and understand their full requirements and acceptance criteria. Participate in the planning/analysis of business requirements for system changes and enhancements alongside our PMO & IT Ops teams. Collaborate cross-functionally to identify business needs and translate them into technical solutions with appropriately detailed documentation. Remain current with Salesforce technologies and best practices. Contribute to and lead where needed Scrum Ceremonies. Proactively support learning of Salesforce Admins and Developers, both direct & indirect reports, to ensure the teams stay current with the latest releases as well as their own certification goals/ Document any changes to baseline within JIRA using agreed methodologies to promote continuity, consistency and audit tracking. Support business owners in understanding the benefits and risks of changes made within the system. Management of integrated applications and third-party suppliers including Financial Force (Now Certinia), Salesforce CPQ, Vonage telephony, Jitterbit, Pardot, Conga, Gearset, Ownbackup.

Key Responsibilities



Configure and design functionality and end-user support of the Salesforce platform. Configure and maintain custom objects, record types, fields, page layouts, validation rules, flows, approval processes, installed packages, etc. within Salesforce.com. Development of complex Salesforce solutions using Flow or APEX where appropriate. Support with change control and best practices with regards to system maintenance, configuration, development, testing, data integrity, etc. Take on the role of technical SME in transformation projects, designing and delivering solutions as required by the project and set out by the project manager. Gather and record requirements. Effectively communicate with the project team, providing updates on progress, risks and time frames. Manage expectations and handle objections appropriately. Identify production risks and areas for improvement; prioritise, design and facilitate successful implementation and adoption of new processes. Support the PMO team in transformation projects and strategic changes to systems and processes. Collaborate with PMO, Information Technology and other business stakeholders to drive high levels of data integrity and operational reliability of our standardized business analytics, tools and processes. Support Salesforce Admins, Developers & Junior Developers with more complex development and understanding of technical documentation. "Teach them to fish" to support their progressive development and in turn the health & robustness of the platform. Line management of Salesforce Admins & Senior Developers to support team knowledge growth and development, setting objectives and working with individuals to meet goals. Mentor Senior Developer to support their direct reports knowledge as well as their own leadership experiences. Conduct data quality reviews for customer data working closely with data owner(s) to understand whether the data is needed by the business and define the access requirements. Create and maintain, both technical and support documentation using JIRA and Confluence. Maintain Jitterbit integrations with external systems, and resolving issues should they arise. Develop user stories alongside business owners and project teams to define clear acceptance criteria ensuring accuracy and ease of use of developed solutions. Understand and be able to perform relevant business processes end-to-end. Champion and support the adoption and usage of relevant technologies and tools by the business. Develop, contribute to, and support our devops solution, identifying issues and improvements. Actively seek to improve and invest in personal development. Ensure the on-time delivery of solution or enhancements.

Working with Agile methodologies and practices, including DevOps/release management experience. Experience in change management and governance. Demonstrates continued personal/professional development. Superior organisation skills including outstanding accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks, use initiative and be self-directed to meet deadlines. Diplomatic, with an ability to operate with a flexible approach in a changing environment. Committed to developing skills and knowledge. A 'can-do' attitude.

Experience and Qualifications



Essential



3+ years of Salesforce Developer experience Experience managing direct and indirect reports. Hands-on experience using APEX, Visualforce, LWC Strong experience with integrations, API or middleware based. Salesforce Certified - Admin, Advanced Admin, Platform Developer I, Agentforce Specialist Exposure to various salesforce clouds including Sales, Service, and Experience Cloud. Demonstrable Salesforce CPQ development experience. Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Desirable



Experience with Jitterbit, Certinia, Pardot, Conga Composer, and Ownbackup Experience of completing User Acceptance Testing and deployment for complex business processes. Experience with bulk data management tools, such as Data Loader, Demand Tools. Experience of coaching others on system understanding and best practices Additional Salesforce certifications e.g. CPQ Developer, Data Architect, Integration Architect, Omnistudio Developer
