Hours: Casual, term time only

The role

St Edward's Oxford is seeking a well-qualified and experienced Registered General Nurse to play a vital role in the delivery of high-quality, clinically effective care to our pupils.

Working within a friendly and professional Health Centre team, you will help support the physical and emotional wellbeing of pupils across a busy day and boarding school environment.

You will ensure a high standard of medical care is delivered to pupils in line with NMC guidelines and school policies, using research-based practice to plan, deliver, and evaluate nursing interventions and first aid care throughout the school. Additionally, you will play a key role in ensuring the Health Centre is appropriately staffed, stocked, and equipped to meet the medical needs of pupils.

Shift patterns

The Health Centre operates 24/7 during term time and is staffed in a shift pattern of:

Long shift (7:30am - 8:00pm) Late shift (12:00pm - 8:30pm) Night shift (7:30pm-8am)

An additional early shift (7:30am-4:00pm) is also provided to cover special events including sports fixtures. This is a term-time only position, making this an ideal opportunity for those seeking work-life balance along with regular holidays aligned with the school calendar.

About you

You will be a Registered General Nurse (adult/child), with experience in school nursing, A&E, paediatrics, acute or ward-based hospital care, GP surgery, community nursing or adolescent health. Strong communication skills, a calm and empathetic approach, and the ability to work independently without on-site medical backup are essential.
