The Headmaster and Trustees are looking to appoint a self-motivated School Bursar who has the necessary drive and ambition to play a vital role in providing long term strategy. With the guidance of the Governors and Headmaster, you will be responsible for ensuring the financial success of the School as a business and charity.
This would suit someone who has a robust understanding of schools' operational control.

Scrutinising and processing payment for invoices received in the school.
Preparing Pupil-Fee bills and subsequent collection of all fees and extras.
Compare performance against budget/forecast
Completing VAT returns
Liaising with HMRC

ISAMS (school management info system)
Finance and Accountancy
Advising on school's financial policy, including presenting appraisals to governing body.
Preparing annual estimates/forecasts with monitoring of income and expenditure.
Keeping accounts and preparing relevant statements and balance sheets.
Maintaining cash flow projections for the current and future years.
Preparing pupils' bills and subsequent collection of all fees and extras.
Processing and submitting invoices to Lancashire County Council
Scrutinising and processing payment for invoices received in the school.
Advising on taxation matters generally, including covenants and VAT regulations.
Undertaking assessments of parents' income and assets prior to making bursary awards.
Supporting the Head with the marketing and development of the school and business.
Overseeing outsourced salaries and wages (including PAYE and NI contributions).
Pension administration
Preparing for and leading annual accounts audit
Liaising with the bank
General Management and Administration
Supporting the Headmaster in compliance with all relevant aspects of employment law.
Supporting the employment, supervision and welfare of all non-teaching staff.
Ensuring adequate safety procedures and insurance cover, including out-of-school hours.
Being responsible for the purchase and procurement of school goods and services.
Acting as correspondent with DfE and being responsible for the records/returns required.
Taking appropriate physical security measures within school for protection of staff/pupils
Maintaining contact with statutory authorities and other school related organisations.
Submit headcount estimates for nursery funding to ensure the school receives monthly payments.
This should be seen as a starting point for the role and will be negotiated with the Headmaster so that it benefits the school.
