St. Michael's School and sixth form is one of the UK's leading independent schools, consistently highly ranked yet remaining inclusive and committed to our mission of success for all students who join us. We offer an outstanding education, combining the pursuit of academic excellence with all-round personal development, for boys and girls aged 3-18 years.
BACKGROUND TO THE POST
This exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team in the post of School Secretary & Receptionist, due to the retirement of the current post holder after 23 years' service. Our school continues to go from strength to strength, with many school years being oversubscribed due to demand for places. There are tremendous benefits to working in the independent schools' school sector and St. Michael's is one of Wales' leading schools. Our summer 2024 A-Level results propelled us to third place in the whole UK (Sunday Times). In 2021 we were named as Welsh Independent Secondary School of the Decade by The Sunday Times. These achievements are down to our hard working staff who go above and beyond in everything that they do and our highly motivated pupils, whose conduct and enthusiasm supports them to achieve great things.
We are seeking to appoint a charismatic and confident communicator, with experience in a similar front-of-house role. The job title gives little indication of the true scope and breadth of the role, but it is fair to say that the role's responsibilities are critical to the effective day to day running of the school. Although it is a full-time, year-round role, the pace and volume of tasks during term time is significant and therefore it will suit someone who is not only resilient but thrives in a busy and stimulating working scenario, where you are balancing the needs and wishes of staff, pupils and parents successfully. Meticulous attention to detail is frequently essential, as well as an ability to prioritise demands on-the-go, taking a sensitive but firm stance where necessary to ensure issues are addressed in the appropriate order. Excellent time management skills, discretion and teamworking abilities are also called for, whilst being calm under pressure yet efficient will result in a fulfilling working experience.
If you join us, you will benefit from working with courteous and motivated children, a range of employee benefits and the chance to be part of a friendly and encouraging staff team, in a happy and enjoyable working environment.
