School Transport Driver (Private Hire or Hackney)

Job Overview:

We are looking for responsible and professional School Transport Drivers with either a Private Hire or Hackney Carriage Licence issued by Blackburn with Darwen or Hyndburn Borough Council. The role involves transporting children safely to and from school, ensuring a secure and positive journey experience. Ideal for licensed drivers seeking reliable, term-time work in the local area.

Key Responsibilities:

Safely transport children and young people to and from school on scheduled routes. Ensure prompt pick-ups and drop-offs in accordance with the school timetable. Carry out daily vehicle safety checks in line with local authority and licensing standards. Maintain a clean, safe, and roadworthy vehicle at all times. Build positive and respectful relationships with students, parents, schools, and colleagues. Communicate effectively with the transport office regarding delays, incidents, or route changes. Collaborate with an escort/passenger assistant where required.
Requirements:

Must hold a valid Hackney Carriage or Private Hire Driver Licence issued by Blackburn with Darwen Council or Hyndburn Borough Council. Full, clean UK driving licence. Enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) required -- support available for application. Good knowledge of local roads and schools in Blackburn, Darwen, Accrington, and surrounding areas. Excellent timekeeping, reliability, and professionalism. Ability to work independently and handle responsibility calmly.
Desirable:

Previous experience transporting children or vulnerable passengers. Training in Safeguarding, First Aid, or MIDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme).
