Salary: \xc2\xa330,000 plus excellent benefits

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

As a result of year-on-year success within the company and continued business growth, exciting opportunities have arisen to join our team of 30+ drug metabolism scientists. We are responsible for delivering high quality metabolic stability, enzyme inhibition, enzyme kinetics and enzyme induction data to our clients, supporting projects from early discovery right through to clinical development. As a member of the team, you will develop in depth technical expertise across all these areas and understand how this data is utilised to support drug discovery and inform clinical development.

The Role as our Scientist

As a Scientist you will be primarily laboratory-based, working with our highly skilled team to ensure that Physical Chemistry assays, both commercial and R&D focussed, are performed to a high standard and within scheduled timeframes. In addition, you will support the training and development of staff, improving the team\xe2\x80\x99s knowledge and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • To conduct both routine and bespoke Physical Chemistry assays (both manually and using liquid-handling robots).
  • To coach and mentor more junior scientists and other colleagues within the team on assay execution and data analysis.
  • To demonstrate ability to use scientific knowledge in data analysis, interpretation and troubleshooting.
  • To be responsible for management of assigned assays, take ownership for the planning and delivery of these assays, communicating effectively with team members and the study managers.
  • To support senior team members with assay development and validation and design of bespoke assays.
  • To ensure that all errors and erroneous results are reported to your supervisor with minimal delay.
  • To keep up to date with relevant scientific advances and regulatory guidelines in the field of Physical Chemistry.
  • To monitor and maintain stock consumables, communicating with internal buyers and external suppliers.
  • To ensure accurate and complete documentation of all activities as required by relevant SOPs and Quality policies.
  • To ensure work is performed to an exceptionally high standard, within specified time frames, ensuring safety regulations and QC procedures are strictly adhered to.
Education, Qualifications and Experience
  • Significant experience working within a laboratory environment is essential. Practical experience in conducting Physical Chemistry measurements aligned to understanding ADMET is advantageous.
  • BSc/MSc, or higher, in Chemistry, Drug Metabolism or a related field.
  • Knowledge of general laboratory processes is essential and experience in any of the following is advantageous: liquid handling robotics (such as Tecan EVO\xc2\xae platform), UPLC-UV-MS/MS and subsequent data analysis.
  • Strong communication and time-management skills to organise and deliver high-quality data in a fast-paced environment.
