We offer an individualised, integrated, and therapeutic education programme designed to meet the complex
SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)
needs of young people who have faced adverse childhood and educational experiences. Many of our learners have experienced significant interruptions to their education, and we are here to help them re-engage and succeed.
The Role:
We are seeking a
dedicated and flexible teacher
with a passion for therapeutic education to deliver
English
lessons and contribute to our wider
enrichment curriculum
. You'll provide bespoke education to young people with varied
SEN and SEMH
needs in a nurturing, trauma-informed environment.
As a teacher at
Niche
, you'll work with a small number of pupils, focusing on inclusive, relational learning. You'll contribute to a flexible and diverse curriculum tailored to each young person's needs. More than just teaching, your role will be to
heal, empower, and inspire

Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging, individualised lessons in
English (KS3, KS4, and Functional Skills)
, alongside enrichment and vocational areas.
Support vocational learning through
ASDAN Short Courses
and the
AQA Unit Award Scheme
.
Promote
personal, social, and emotional development
alongside academic progress.
Design and deliver creative class projects that foster
social development, life skills, and curiosity
.
Adapt teaching approaches to be
therapeutic, collaborative, and responsive
to SEN and SEMH needs.
Create and maintain a
safe, supportive, and inclusive
learning environment.
Work closely with the
Head of Education
, care teams, therapists, and external professionals to ensure holistic support.
Track and celebrate progress, set achievable targets, and contribute to
EHCP reviews
.
Uphold
safeguarding standards
and promote pupil wellbeing at all times.
About You:
You are a
warm, empathetic, and resilient teacher
who values a
therapeutic and relational approach
to education. You are committed to meeting each learner where they are, adapting creatively to their needs, and never giving up on helping them succeed.
Essential / Desirable Attributes:
Minimum
3 years' experience
teaching in UK schools.
Experience working with
children with SEMH and/or SEN
, or within
alternative or therapeutic provision
(highly desirable).
A
formal Teaching Qualification
is not essential, but
QTS or QTLS
is desirable.
Calm, emotionally intelligent, and reflective.
Skilled at building
positive, trusting relationships
with young people who may be vulnerable or disengaged from education.
Knowledge of
trauma-informed and attachment-aware
teaching practices.
Creative, adaptable, and self-reflective
in your approach.
