Brodie Engineering: A Leading Rolling Stock Engineering Business offers a comprehensive range of refurbishment, maintenance, overhaul, engineering support, project management, and repair services to the UK rail and light rail sector.
We operate from our depots in Kilmarnock, Scotland and provide a mobile service to the rail industry over the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland.
We are looking to recruit a Semi-Skilled Operative to support with all production support activities including factory maintenance, cleaning, stores, supporting production team, driving, shunting and forklift operations.
The responsibilities of the role include:
Working with project teams to ensure materials and tools are available for use and returned as required.
Ensuring the work area is kept clean and tidy with waste materials disposed of in the correct containers and areas by following the 5S system within the workshop
Working with project teams removing components, lifting flooring etc.
Operation of the counter-balance fork-lift in moving materials around the workshop for each project.
Driving the company vans to collect or deliver materials
Operation of the vehicle shunter for all rolling stock movements within the workshop, making sure they are safely integrated into the planned work schedules.
Promote Brodie Engineerings behavioural expectations by enhancing and supporting working relationships within the business, customers and external agencies.
Comply with all Brodie Engineering policies as detailed in the Employee Handbook
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience in working within an engineering environment
Experience of working with power tools
A full UK driving licence
A forklift licence is desirable
Ability to multi-task and make quick decisions for short notice changes to workshop plans
Good, clear communication skills to relay important safety messages to your colleagues
Previous rail shunting experience would be an advantage, but full training will be given
Ability to work independently and on your own initiative
