Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work closely with a bright and academically able child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a supportive educational setting.
Key Details:
Communication:
The child is minimally verbal and does not communicate clearly. Experience with alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, AAC) is desirable.Academic Ability:
Academically able but requires close support to remain focused and engaged with tasks.Behaviour:
Generally calm and cooperative, with no significant behavioural challenges.Support Needs:
Assistance in staying on task during learning activities. Sensory needs awareness--sensitive to environments, may require sensory breaks. Makes vocal noises as part of self-regulation. Struggles with eating and may need gentle support during mealtimes.Ideal Candidate:
Experience supporting children with ASD, particularly those who are minimally verbal. Skilled in maintaining a structured, nurturing environment. Able to implement strategies that support communication, focus, and sensory regulation. Empathetic, reliable, and proactive in anticipating and responding to individual needs. Comfortable with personal care tasks and assisting during meal times.
