Introduction



Are you passionate about working with children and young people with SEN? Are you excited about Education? Do you want to make a difference and improve outcomes and life experiences for children, young people and their families in Lewisham?


Good understanding of SEN Law, SEN Code of Practice and policy, Code of Practice Home to School Transport SEN.


A good understanding of the statutory framework governing the assessment of and provision for children with special educational needs.


An understanding of the types of special needs that effect children's education and an ability to develop this knowledge.


Knowledge of administration and management systems.


What's the role?



To lead, organise and manage the SEN team. Provide staff with effective leadership and ensure that there are high quality systems of internal and external communication.


To lead the decision making processes in relation to statutory assessment, placement and provision with SEN and in connection with their overall welfare.


To work with the SEN Team to deliver the SEND Strategy and to ensure that SEN performance targets are met. Seeking the views of stakeholders in identifying future needs and service priorities.

What we're looking for



You will be an experienced and skilled leader in the world of SEN. You will have experience of working with children and young people with SEN and their families. You will have excellent knowledge and understanding of the statutory legislation and framework to ensure that we meet our legal requirements. You will have strong communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with our partner agencies.


Location



The job is primarily based in Kaleidoscope, 32 Rushey Green, Catford, London, SE6 4JF but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.

Salary



60,633 - 62,742 per annum (SCP 45-47)


N.B: All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
