At the Children's Respite Trust, we believe no family should face the challenges of caring for a child with a disability alone. We offer vital respite services at our Uckfield Centre and across Sussex, providing care and fun activities for children with a range of needs.
About the Role
As a
Play Worker
, you'll play a key role in delivering a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for children during our
before and after-school sessions
. You'll help children start their day with a positive breakfast club experience and wind down in the afternoon with fun, creative activities that support their development and well-being.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, values routine and structure, and wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of families by providing reliable, high-quality wraparound care. You'll be part of a friendly team that puts children first, ensuring they feel safe, happy, and supported every day.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and support engaging play activities that foster physical, emotional, and social growth
Ensure children's safety and wellbeing at all times
Support inclusive participation for children with varying disabilities
Help plan and organise activities tailored to individual interests
Communicate effectively with parents and team members
What We're Looking For
We are looking for candidates who have experience working with children,
ideally those with SEND, or in a similar care or educational setting.
You should be:
A positive, energetic team player who enjoys working with children aged 4-18
Confident in planning and delivering engaging, tailored activities
Responsible and committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children
A strong communicator with good teamwork and IT skills
Requirements
Experience working with children with SEND or in a similar care/education role is essential
Education/childcare/playworker training is desirable but not essential - full training will be provided
GCSE Grade 4 or above in English and Maths preferred (or willingness to work towards equivalent)
