SEN Teaching Assistant - Complex Needs

We are seeking a resilient, compassionate, and highly skilled

SEN Teaching Assistant

to support a Year 1 pupil with complex needs. This is a rewarding role for someone who is committed to making a difference in the life of a child who requires patience, structure, and understanding.

About the Pupil

Diagnosed with

Autism

Selective mute

with limited communication Presents

very dysregulated behaviour

and requires consistent support Does not understand or follow instructions when dysregulated A

runner

and requires close supervision, with the ability to use restraint safely when necessary
The Role

You will work 1:1 with the pupil to provide stability, encouragement, and a safe environment that fosters progress both academically and emotionally. You will be expected to:

Provide individualised support tailored to the pupil's needs Use de-escalation strategies and manage challenging behaviour Ensure the pupil's safety at all times, including preventing running incidents Support communication through alternative methods where required Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver consistent support
What We're Looking For

Previous experience supporting children with Autism and complex needs Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and safeguarding procedures Calm, adaptable, and able to think quickly under pressure A caring professional who is passionate about helping children thrive Training in restraint or Team Teach (desirable but not essential - training can be provided)
