school provision for SEN students, based in

Islington

. This is a

full time

long term

SEN Teaching Assistant

will work with students with a variety of special educational needs, including

Autism

This

full time

role is term-time only (Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm), providing stability and consistency for both staff and students. The position includes access to excellent SEN-specific training and ongoing mentoring. Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or personal experience supporting individuals with SEN would be highly beneficial, though passion, patience, and a strong desire to help young people succeed are the most important qualities.

Key Responsibilities:



Deliver 1:1 and small group support to students with

Autism

, ADHD, and learning difficulties in a

mainstream secondary

classroom environment. Assist teachers and the SENCO in implementing and monitoring Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Adapt learning materials and classroom resources to meet individual needs and abilities. Support teachers in promoting positive learning behaviours and engagement. Encourage communication, social, and emotional development, particularly for students with non-verbal

Autism

. Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teaching and SEN teams. Foster independence, confidence, and self-esteem through supportive interventions. Collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to deliver consistent SEN support. Contribute to maintaining a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment that promotes respect and diversity.
