SEN Teaching Assistant - Year 4 | Harrow Primary School

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with strong behaviour management skills and training in Makaton and PECS?
A supportive and inclusive primary school in Harrow is seeking a dedicated and compassionate TA to join their team, working with pupils in Year 4 who have additional learning and communication needs.

About the Role

Full-time position supporting pupils with communication and social interaction difficulties. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual learning plans. Use Makaton and PECS to develop pupils' communication skills and promote independence. Apply effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a calm and positive classroom environment. Provide support during lessons, small group work, and one-to-one interventions.
About You

Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly autism and speech/communication needs. Trained in Makaton and PECS. Skilled in behaviour management and confident in de-escalating challenging situations. Patient, empathetic, and committed to helping every child reach their full potential. Previous classroom experience in a primary school is essential.
