About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with pupils with
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
and related communication challenges. The successful candidate will provide structured and consistent support, helping children access learning and develop key communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions using Makaton and PECS.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, the SENCO, and external specialists.
Adapt learning materials and classroom activities to meet individual needs.
Support pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.
Contribute to EHCP reviews and maintain accurate records of pupil progress.
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience in a similar SEN TA role, ideally within a primary school.
Practical knowledge of Makaton and PECS is essential.
A calm, caring, and patient manner with a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
A current enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one.
