Role: SEN Teaching Assistant



Location: Norton Hill Primary



Contract: Temporary linked to funding



Start Date: 5th January 2026



Closing Date: 17th December 2025



Hours: 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30-3.30 , term time plus 2 inset days



Salary: Grade 4 and scale point 7 - 10, 13.69 - 14.35 per hour (full time equivalent 26,403 - 27,694) and actual annual salary range 19,658 - 20,620



We are seeking a dedicated and experienced

SEN Support Practitioner

to join our inclusive and supportive school environment. Working under the guidance of our SENDCO and teaching staff, you will be instrumental in ensuring pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) have full access to learning and achieve their potential.

This is a highly rewarding role for an individual who can demonstrate exceptional knowledge of diverse learning needs and a commitment to promoting pupil independence and well-being.

Key Responsibilities Include:Support for Pupils & Learning:



Implementing tailored strategies and care programs as outlined in pupils' EHCPs and student profiles. Supervising and supporting pupils, acting as a positive role model, and establishing constructive relationships. Delivering structured 1:1 and small group interventions to support fundamental skills, literacy, and numeracy development. Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils and encouraging independence. Providing essential pastoral support to pupils.

Support for the Teacher & School:



Assisting with lesson planning, maintaining an orderly and supportive classroom environment, and preparing resources. Monitoring and accurately recording pupils' progress, achievement, and responses to learning activities, providing detailed feedback to the teacher. Managing pupil behaviour in line with school policy and encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their own conduct. Supporting the school's overall ethos, including assisting with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times (e.g., lunch duty, school trips).

What We Are Looking For (Essential):



A reasonable standard of education, with

Level 2 qualifications (GCSE or equivalent) in Literacy and Numeracy.

Proven experience

of working with or caring for children of a relevant age in a paid, voluntary, or domestic setting. A clear understanding of

child development

and a wide range of issues concerning their education and welfare. Experience in using a variety of strategies to work effectively with

children with complex needs

, and the ability to deliver educational programmes under general supervision. Excellent ability to relate well to both children and adults. Competence in using

ICT

to support learning and general administrative tasks (e.g., Microsoft Office, email). A strong capacity to work constructively as part of a team.

Desirable:

Relevant qualifications such as NVQ 2 for Teaching Assistants, 3+ years of relevant experience, and knowledge of the national curriculum and relevant learning strategies.
