SEN Teaching Assistant
will be working with students who have a range of additional needs including
Autism
(non-verbal), ADHD, and various learning difficulties.
This
full time
position is term-time only (Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm), providing the opportunity to make a consistent and lasting impact throughout the school year. Comprehensive training and ongoing professional development are provided. Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or personal experience supporting individuals with SEN is highly beneficial, though not essential for the right applicant with a genuine passion for education and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with
Autism
, ADHD, and learning difficulties in a
mainstream secondary
classroom setting.
Assist in implementing and reviewing Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) under the guidance of the SENCO.
Adapt and differentiate learning materials to ensure accessibility for all students.
Support subject teachers in managing classroom behaviour and promoting positive engagement.
Encourage and develop communication and social interaction skills, particularly with non-verbal
Autism
students.
Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and SEN staff.
Promote independence, resilience, and confidence through structured support and positive reinforcement.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals to deliver effective and consistent support.
Contribute to maintaining a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
