SEND Learning Mentor



Are you ready to make a real difference in the lives of students with autism? We're looking for an Autism Support Worker to join a specialist school setting in September.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art environment, with immersive rooms, specialist therapy spaces, sensory rooms, and more, all designed to support the needs of our learners.

Key Responsibilities:



Support pupils with autism to engage with their learning in the classroom, adapting approaches to meet individual needs. Work closely with teachers and teaching assistants to deliver small group and 1-1 lessons and interventions. Help set up and assist in delivering engaging lessons tailored to each student's specific learning style. Foster an engaging, supportive, and fun learning environment, bringing joy and enthusiasm to the classroom. Support students in specialist outdoor learning environments, as well as in the classroom.

What We're Looking For:



Experience working with adults or children with autism. Knowledge of non-verbal communication methods such as Makaton and PECS. Adaptable and proactive - able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. A fun-loving, enthusiastic personality who can bring joy to the classroom. Passionate about supporting individuals with autism and helping them thrive.

Working Hours:



Full-time: 8.30 AM to 3.30 PM, Monday to Friday. Part-time applications are also considered.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.

Pay: 91.00-105.00 per day
