FULL JOB DESCRIPTION - SEND Mentor



Job purpose:

The role of SEND Mentor working within our Alternative Provision during term-time caters for SEMH & SEND tutees. For the right candidate, this role can be extended with additional Community Tuition to take place after school hours.

Pay/Hours:



16,452.63 - 18,878.73 (actual salary which is based on term-time only 39 weeks per year and 30 hours per week). Salary can depend on experience.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

:

Providing specialist support, guidance and academic mentoring and tutoring to all students Planning and delivering tuition lessons on a 1:1 or small group basis in Maths & English to primary/ Functional skills level. Working with tutee's with complex additional needs including social, emotional and mental health needs Safeguarding children and young people and supporting emotional well-being, including keeping attendance data up to date To oversee your key tutees strategies, risks, outcomes and be aware of their specific needs Managing behaviour using de-escalation techniques and liaising with parents where required Working with the Manager and Seniors to create a stimulating and supportive classroom environment and manage behaviour and engagement Creating opportunities for all learners to reach their potential Make positive relationships with tutees, their parents/ carers and other professionals Having the flexibility and adaptability to meet timetable needs which could include working between our three centres in Old Town. Swindon Town Centre and Gorse Hill, or offsite Familiarising themselves with the national curriculum for the levels they teach and research new topic areas, maintaining up-to-date subject knowledge. Marking pupil's work with the student, giving constructive feedback. Maintaining records of pupils' progress and development via live lesson plans and End of Term Reports Use a range of resources and assessment methods in order to support academic progress Assisting students with test/exam preparation, papers, research and homework projects when requested. Communicating professionally with parents, carers and other external agencies both verbally and via email To undertake additional duties as required by business need To participate in regular in-service training (INSET) as part of continuing professional development (CPD).

To have your own transport and be willing to move tutees between locations if required.

Pay: 24,755.12-28,405.50 per year
