Job Description


The Role:

As an experienced financial controller, you will apply your in-depth knowledge of UK and Irish financial accounting and tax matters to meet the clients internal and external compliance and reporting obligations. This role will appeal to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment in a complex, matrixed organisation, who is experienced in managing multiple stakeholders across different geographies.

Responsibilities include:

  • The planning and execution of financial processes to meet required timelines and internal and external compliance obligations;
  • In conjunction with our outsourced business partners, the provision of timely accounting and tax advice and reporting relating to statutory accounting and other compliance requirements;
  • The identification and implementation of process improvement and strategic financial initiatives both in the UK and as part of the European finance organisation;
  • The day to day management of the local team to deliver accounting and tax support to the business; and
  • Oversight of the global accounting hub and outsourced service providers.
Responsibilities:

Accounting
  • Manage monthly/quarterly close with oversight of Global Accounting Hub activities and supervision of our outsourced service provider
  • Research technical accounting issues and determine tax treatments under local GAAP in partnership with global tax and global accounting colleagues
  • Manage relationship with UK and Irish audit teams and take responsibility for all statutory reporting including audited accounts and all tax filings
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls framework
Tax
  • Oversee all tax filings and payments in conjunction with outsourced partner
  • Manage Transfer Pricing analysis in conjunction with European tax team
  • Manage tax audits and HMRC enquires
  • Lead support for Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) review and other tax compliance responsibilities
  • Management of tax provisioning in partnership with EU tax team
  • Responsible for miscellaneous HMRC filings e.g. PSA, employment related securities
Required qualifications:
  • Experienced Financial Accountant in a complex multinational business with demonstrated success in a Senior Financial Accountant/Financial Controller role, ideally in the pharmaceutical sector
  • ACA / CIMA / ACCA or equivalent accounting qualification
  • Demonstrated excellent technical knowledge of UK and Irish GAAP, UK and Irish tax, transfer pricing and accounting systems/processes; experience with US GAAP
  • Demonstrated capability to learn quickly, being open and flexible to changes, in a matrixed and multinational environment
  • Demonstrated high level of analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems
  • Excellent oral as well as written English communication
  • Excellent computer skills in the Microsoft Office environment, particularly MS Excel
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP Solution
