My client in Crewe are recruiting for a Senior Applications Engineer to join them on a Permanent basis.

Your main purpose in this new and exciting position will be to act as a leading figure within the business providing specialist technical advice and guidance on the product and service capabilities of the broad product range ensuring internal and external stakeholders and customers are supported effectively. You will be required to train, coach and mentor Applications Engineers and Advisory Technicians in their technical support duties within the team.

Senior Applications Engineer Job Responsibilities:

• To provide technical support to internal and external customers and to the Applications Engineers and Advisory Technicians on more complex enquires, and for strategically important customers where the nature of the project dictates a higher level of technical input.
• To provide some \xe2\x80\x98hands-on\xe2\x80\x99 service to UK customers at their site. There may be a requirement to travel internationally to support the EMEA Applications Engineering team.
• To providing cross territory support where required for the Global Applications Engineering team.
• To give advice on seal application and fitting.
• To identify the need for new products and materials and to support the MBU as required for projects that impact the UK market.
• To provide conceptual designs of sealing solutions for customers.
• To assist in the preparation of material specifications for new or existing products.
• To assist in the preparation of product literature.
• To give, and where necessary seek advice on manufacturing capability.
• To investigate seal failures and provide reports and recommendations.
• To train, coach and mentor Applications Engineers and Advisory Technicians on JW products, attributes and applications, and to assist and support them in their development.
• To recognise and interpret International, National, Customer and Company specifications.
• To produce and assist in the production of technical material and data for the use of James Walker employees.
• To provide guidance such that James Walker Sales Team colleagues understand and observe all applicable Company Technical and quality policies, rules and procedures, and to set a good personal example in their observance.
• To lead cross-functional teams (including Sales, Marketing, Product Engineers, Test Engineers and Process Engineers) in delivering sealing solutions to customers\xe2\x80\x99 problems.
• To support the SHEQ function of the company.
• Work towards the James Walker values and behaviors in day-to-day activities.

Senior Applications Engineer Qualifications/Experience:

Essential:

• Engineering Degree, HND, HNC (or equivalent)

• Seal design / application knowledge

• Previous Engineering role

• MS Office literate

• AutoCAD 2D and/or Inventor 3D (or equivalent) literate

Preferred:

• Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Chartered Engineer (or working towards)

• Presentation skills

• Coaching/Mentoring skills
