Brief Description

An exciting challenge working in a fast growing discipline within the Southern Region Drainage and Off-track team. As we move into the next 5 year funding cycle (Control Period 7) you\'ll oversee a c.\xc2\xa312m annual budget to help improve the Structural and Serviceable capability of track and off-track Drainage assets across the Network Rail Wessex Route. You\'ll play key role in managing the risk associated with our ever changing climate, ensuring assets are resilient and reliable for the future as well as developing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

About the role (External)

Key Responsibilities will be to:

\xc2\xb7 Contribute to the development of route strategies and the prioritised workbank. Manage the inclusion of allocated items into appropriate programmes and monitor through to completion, including approval of programme changes. Determine and advise on the implications if work is not undertaken in the recommended time-frame including impact on appropriate asset measures and outputs.

\xc2\xb7 Lead the development and implementation of the drainage & off-track renewal, refurbishment and enhancement work bank to deliver Network Rail\'s goals.

\xc2\xb7 Lead the specification and acceptance of the renewal requirements criteria for drainage & off-track engineering works including design approval and any specific requirements for acceptance of the equipment into maintenance.

\xc2\xb7 Following handover to delivery, support the development and implementation of projects to confirm the renewals requirements are correctly interpreted, that any changes in scope are agreed, the agreed deliverables in the asset management plan are delivered and that the scheme delivers the project remit.

\xc2\xb7 Lead the provision of drainage & off-track engineering input to enhancement projects such that they are specified and accepted in accordance with company asset policies and standards.

\xc2\xb7 Identify issues of national significance and elevate to the national team. Support the development and review of national standards relating to renewals and enhancements.

\xc2\xb7 Check that accurate and comprehensive records relating to the existence, configuration and modification history of drainage & off track engineering assets are maintained and that they accurately reflect their current \'as built\' status.

\xc2\xb7 Participate in investigations of incidents as required.

\xc2\xb7 Lead and participate in engineering verification activities in support of the verification programme.

\xc2\xb7 Contribute to the development and maintenance of route asset management plans.

\xc2\xb7 Carry out asset condition inspections that will inform the drainage & off-track asset condition database and the renewals work bank

Skills and Experience

Essential

\xc2\xb7 Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent

\xc2\xb7 Membership of relevant professional institution

\xc2\xb7 Substantial drainage & off-track engineering experience, particularly related to renewals and enhancements

\xc2\xb7 Holds relevant professional licences and technical qualifications, or capable of achieving within reasonable timescales

\xc2\xb7 An understanding of policy and technical, safety and performance standards relating to signal engineering

\xc2\xb7 Holds valid UK driving licence, or eligible and willing to obtain

Desirable

\xc2\xb7 Chartered Engineer

\xc2\xb7 An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of investment processes and procedures, including relevant computer systems

\xc2\xb7 Experience in the integration of complex engineering systems

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of project management techniques
