Our Front of House team have built a fantastic reputation for friendly, attentive, but unobtrusive service and we are now busier than ever in our award-winning village pub with rooms.

We are on the hunt for a new person, with a proven track-record of working in a similar establishment, to expand our lovely team as a full-time Senior Bartender for our pub-with-rooms, The Greyhound Inn. If any of the following sounds like you, please apply!

Are you passionate about hospitality? Do you get job satisfaction from delighting customers who come back time after time? If you are an experienced front of house person with bar, floor, cellar and stock management experience, with an outgoing, positive personality, exceptional attention to detail and good organisational skills we would love to talk to you.

We are a multi-award winning venue set in rural Oxfordshire (1.5 miles from Wantage market town). Awards include: recent selection as one of the Good Food Guide's Best 100 pubs of Britain 2025, Good Hotel Guide, 2 AA Rosettes for culinary excellence and many CAMRA awards for our real ales, which are an integral part of our offering. With a 9/10 rating from the Times and the Telegraph newspapers, we receive visitors from all around the world who come to experience our warm hospitality, outstanding bedrooms and delicious food. Only 19 miles from Oxford and 16 miles from Newbury.

Our bar menu includes a range of home-made cocktails, a well-curated gin menu and award-winning beer selection (including 4 hand-pump real ale taps) as well as an extensive wine list including around 20 by the glass.

Responsibilities include:

having sole responsibility for the smooth running of the bar, including managing and monitoring bar stock ordering
maintaining the highest level of cellar hygiene
wine and beer knowledge including real ales (a Cask-marque qualification is a bonus)
ability to make cocktails under pressure
delivering exceptional customer service to all visitors and knowing your top 100 customers and their drinks
taking initiative with pro-active, point-of-sale drinks promotions and with an interest in social media marketing
dealing with enquiries by email, phone and in person in a friendly, helpful manner including the use of various electronic booking systems
leading by example to ensure all tasks are completed to a high standard
working closely with all areas of the business to ensure good communication and striving to improve our offering at all times
