We are a small group of family-run companies operating across

funeral services

, and we're looking for an experienced and hands-on

Senior Bookkeeper / Management Accountant

to take ownership of the financial operations across our group.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a

senior finance role

with strategic input, where your skills will directly support the financial health and growth of multiple companies.

Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee all

bookkeeping

across 5 companies (Industries Inc. Funeral and Property) Maintain accurate records using

Xero

accounting software Prepare monthly

management accounts

, financial reports, and cashflow forecasts Submit VAT returns and ensure HMRC compliance (property companies VAT-registered) Work with Directors on

strategic tax planning

, structural optimisation, and efficiency Liaise with external accountants and HMRC as needed Collaborate with a small in-house finance team (3 people) Support payroll, payment runs, and other finance admin where needed
What We're Looking For:

Minimum 5+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience (ideally across multiple businesses) Strong working knowledge of

Xero

VAT experience essential; tax planning knowledge highly desirable Excellent attention to detail and communication skills Confident managing multiple sets of accounts independently Qualifications such as AAT, ICB, or ACCA (part or fully qualified) preferred
