The Technology department are responsible for providing engineering services to all departments in the disciplines of Broadcast and IT. Our goal is to drive excellence through exceeding expectations as part of the ongoing growth success of the business.


The department provides the following:

24/7 proactive maintenance and reactive support to ensure industry leading levels of availability for a diverse range of end-to-end broadcast and IT systems. Project design, implementation and documentation to the highest standards providing reliable and resilient technical solutions. Collaboration with stakeholders to create and maximise efficiencies and optimised technical solutions whilst utilising existing available resources.

Senior Broadcast Engineer is a key member of the London Technology team as one of the technical leaders for on-prem broadcast systems at our London site. They work closely with Technology leadership and project teams to provide 2nd level and occasional 1st level support in London support, taking a role in projects, troubleshooting, documentation and ensuring best practice is followed.


Responsibilities


Support

Ensure our audiences experience is always prioritised. Serve as 2nd level escalation for broadcast support issues in London. Follow support/ticketing system processes so that reported issues are solved with maximum efficiency and other stakeholder are informed quickly. Manage/oversee periodic maintenance plans of broadcast infrastructure.

Projects

Be part of the new broadcast technology implementations (project engineering phase) working with internal stakeholders and external vendors with a focus on supportability of solution. Ensure technical solutions and services comply with company's business continuity, disaster recovery and cybersecurity plans. Support change management process and planned engineering works. Occasionally represent the Support technical function to the rest of the business.

Oversight

Be proactive in ensuring best practice, documentation, continued improvement and support. Help support team to respond to technical and operational issues quickly and efficiently, incl. critical decision making and prioritization. Help define and implement procedures to respond to mission critical issues immediately. Regularly review, promote and add to internal knowledgebase, so that new support is more efficient. Work with internal and external SMEs on long-term, in-depth root cause analysis of equipment or software faults and failures and proper resolution plans.

Requirements

At least 3 years in a senior broadcast engineering role or similar. Strong understanding of broadcast systems and technologies: including traditional SDI, IP, network, software and servers (virtual and physical). Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of cybersecurity and resilience in broadcast implementations. Proficiency in creating documentation for broadcast systems and processes. Excellent collaboration skills with stakeholders and technology partners. Experience in project design, implementation, and providing technical solutions Strong decision-making skills in critical situations minimizing downtime and creative problem solving. Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills - to both technical and non-technical people. The candidate should be able to prioritize tasks effectively and manage their time efficiently to meet deadlines.
