We are seeking a Team Leader who shares our passion for making a positive impact on the lives of young people. As a Team Leader in one of our residential homes, you'll work closely with the team and children to ensure they are happy, cared for and supported to ensure that our home is a place of love, learning, and empowerment for children with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or Learning Disabilities (LD).

Your Role in Transforming Lives



As a Residential Children's Team Leader, you will play a vital role in overseeing the day-to-day care of young people in one of our residential homes. Working closely with the Deputy Manager, you'll lead a team of dedicated care staff, ensuring that every young person receives the support, care, and guidance they need to flourish.

Your leadership will create a positive, structured environment where children can feel safe and empowered to grow emotionally, socially, and educationally. You'll be hands-on, guiding your team to deliver outstanding care while making a real difference in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities



Leading the Care Team:

Provide day-to-day leadership to a team of residential care workers, ensuring the highest standard of care is consistently delivered.

Work closely with the Deputy Manager to create a warm, safe, and nurturing home environment where young people feel valued and supported.

Be a positive role model, providing hands-on care and support.

Encourage positive behaviour and emotional well-being in children by fostering a culture of respect, trust, and understanding.

Support staff in their development by offering supervision, guidance, and mentoring to help them grow in their roles.

Delivering High-Quality Care:



Ensure each young person is working with their individual care plan tailored to their specific needs, goals, and aspirations.

Assist in providing emotional, educational, and social development support to young people, helping them build confidence and resilience.

Take part in daily activities, including school runs, recreational activities, and therapeutic interventions, ensuring young people have a well-rounded experience.

Work closely with young people to promote positive behaviour and support them through difficult moments, using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.

Compliance and Safeguarding:



Ensure all practices meet Ofsted standards and comply with Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.

Actively promote safeguarding, ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed, and that children's safety and well-being are always prioritised.

Contribute to Ofsted inspections and ensure the home operates to the highest standards of care, safety, and compliance.

Team Development:



Support the Deputy Manager in staff development, including team meetings, reflective practices, and training sessions.

Ensure all team members are confident in their roles and are equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide high-quality care.

Promote a positive and collaborative team environment where everyone is valued and empowered to make a difference.

Administrative and Operational Support:



Assist the Deputy Manager with the day-to-day operations of the home, including rotas, health and safety checks, and resource management.

Participate in record-keeping, ensuring accurate and detailed documentation of each child's care, development, and progress.

Help manage relationships with external professionals such as social workers, education providers, and healthcare professionals, ensuring a multi-disciplinary approach to each young person's care.

Who You Are:



Essential Skills and Experience:



A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).

At least 2 years of experience in a children's residential care setting, with experience supporting young people with EBD and/or LD.

Understanding of Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and safeguarding practices.

A compassionate, positive, and proactive approach to caring for young people.

Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, guide, and develop a team.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with young people, staff, and external agencies.

A commitment to promoting the well-being and development of children.

A full UK driving license.

Desirable Qualities:



Experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a children's residential care setting.

Knowledge of trauma-informed care and therapeutic approaches.

Experience working with children with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
