At The Wandering Kitchen we run a cafe on a beautiful lake in South Oxfordshire. We pride ourselves on the food and drink that we produce, we source ingredients locally and make everything from scratch. We love our customers, those that are involved in the water sports and those who come to the lake for our food and atmosphere. Job Summary


We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation and production, ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality are maintained. This role is perfect for individuals looking to develop their culinary skills in a dynamic kitchen environment while contributing to the overall success of our restaurant.

Duties



Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes as directed by senior chefs. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen workspace, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. Support team management by collaborating effectively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations. Participate in food production processes, including chopping, mixing, and plating. Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management to ensure all necessary ingredients are available. Follow recipes accurately and maintain consistent quality in food presentation. Contribute to menu development by providing feedback on dishes and suggesting improvements. Uphold high standards of hospitality by ensuring that all meals are served promptly and to specification.

Experience



Previous kitchen experience is preferred, with a focus on food preparation and cooking techniques. Familiarity with food safety practices and regulations is essential. Supervising experience or team management skills will be advantageous for this role. A background in hospitality or restaurant environments will be beneficial for understanding service expectations. Culinary experience, including formal training or relevant qualifications, is desirable but not mandatory.

Monday - Saturday: 9am - 4pm
Sunday: 8:30 - 4pm

Summer opening times:



Monday: 9am - 9pm
Tuesday: 9am - 4pm
Wednesday: 8am - 4pm
Thursday: 9am - 9pm
Friday: 9am - 4pm
Saturday: 9am - 4pm
Sunday: 7am - 4pm

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 13.00-13.50 per hour

Expected hours: 37 - 45 per week
