Senior Communications Manager (internal Secondment)

North West London, United Kingdom

Job Description

About us
UCL is one of the world's leading universities and London's global university. We are known for our progressive history, cross-disciplinary excellence and commitment to addressing global challenges through research, education and innovation.
The Office of the Vice-President External Engagement (VPEE) brings together UCL's work across brand, marketing, communications, media relations, public affairs and events. Our role is to build deep affinity with UCL's staff and students, strengthen the university's reputation and influence, and demonstrate the public value of our research and partnerships in the UK and globally.
About the role
As Senior Communications Manager, you will play a key role in shaping how UCL communicates with its internal audiences during a period of organisational change and strategic ambition.
You will oversee a complex and fast-moving content pipeline, commissioning, editing and producing high-quality communications that support major institutional priorities and employee engagement. This includes news, storytelling, campaigns and a wide range of digital communication assets, all tailored to diverse audiences and channels.
Working closely with senior stakeholders and colleagues across UCL, you will help ensure clarity, consistency and high standards in communications. You will also manage and develop a small team, aligning skills and capacity to deliver an effective, flexible three-tier communications model: delivering communications, supporting communications, and enabling self-service.
The role combines strategic planning, editorial leadership, performance insight and people management, and offers the opportunity to have real impact across one of the world's leading universities.
Please note, this is an internal secondment role, available to current UCL staff only. We have two roles available on a secondment basis, one for 9-months and another for 12-months. The role is offered on a hybrid-working basis with 1-2 days based onsite at our Bidborough House office.
